Box Framing

This course is designed to take the framer into the more detailed area of Box Framing to offer clients, that little bit extra and something different.

2 Days

Course Time: 9:00am – 5.00pm

(Materials Required: Small Teddy Bear and other similar item)

Course Content

  1. Safe handling and storage of customers artwork, wearing of white gloves where necessary
  2. Measuring and calculation of size of object.
  3. Methods for making boxes: Foam Core Board, use of multiple frames to create deep boxes, use of the Tapered Box method, and use of other substrate to make boxes, i.e.. small wooden batons, etc.
  4. Calculation of and mount cutting to Conservation standard
  5. Methods of attaching object to backing substrate, i.e.. stitching, use of wire, clips, silicone gel, etc.
  6. Decoration of backing substrate, in Tapered Box or other box method
  7. Framing and mounting of item(s), paying particular importance of airspace
  8. Question, Answers, Problem solving
  9. Review of Fine Art Trade Guild Mountboard Standards and 5 Levels of Framing
