Box Framing

Course Time: 9:00am – 5.00pm
(Materials Required: Small Teddy Bear and other similar item)
COURSE CONTENT
- Safe handling and storage of customers artwork, wearing of white gloves where necessary
- Measuring and calculation of size of object.
- Methods for making boxes: Foam Core Board, use of multiple frames to create deep
boxes, use of the Tapered Box method, and use of other substrate to make boxes, i.e..
small wooden batons, etc.
- Calculation of and mount cutting to Conservation standard
- Methods of attaching object to backing substrate, i.e.. stitching, use of wire, clips,
silicone gel, etc.
- Decoration of backing substrate, in Tapered Box or other box method
- Framing and mounting of item(s), paying particular importance of airspace
- Question, Answers, Problem solving
- Review of Fine Art Trade Guild Mountboard Standards and 5 Levels of Framing
