This course is designed to take the framer into the more detailed area of Mount Cutting & Decoration to offer clients, that little bit extra and something different, and to acquaint the framer with requirements for the GCF Advanced exam

COURSE CONTENT

·

Mountcutter set up and maintenance. Refresher on mount size calculation, basic mountcutting, single mounts, double mounts

·


·

Refresher on basic line drawing

·


·

Use of fillets and slips and deep bevel fillets and foam core covered fillets

·


·

V Grooves and Inlay mounts, Oval Mount cutting,

·


·

Multi-Aperture Mounts and Multi Sided Mounts

·


·

Shadow mounts, Sink mounts, Combination mounts, Straight and Curved Lines

·


·

Use of Self Adhesive details on mounts / fabric covered mounts

·


·

Decorative Corners Mounts

·


·

Cutting extra thick / museum mountboard, i.e.. 2000 Microns and above

·


·

Wash lines and panels, 5 Band, using, line and wash, paints, pens and powders, calculation of line width, position and techniques for decorative effects on mount surface, e.g.. stenciling — Hand finished mount decoration

·


·

Review of Fine Art Trade Guild Mountboard & Framing Standards


This course will also advise on the 3 Pre-Prepared framed objects for the GCF Advanced Examination which is as follows:

·

1. Mounted print / artwork to Conservation standards, with 5 band wash-line with minimum of 15mm washed panel

·


·

2. Individually designed mount, and framed as if it was a pastel, even if a pastel is not used

·


·

3. Multi-Aperture Mount, to include 6 apertures, 3 landscape, 3 portrait
